2) awards & scholarships

One of the biggest obstacles to the development of a more accurate depiction of Canada's multicultural and multiracial reality is the perceived lack of qualified on-air staff and journalists. As an ethnic broadcaster, Canadian Multicultural Radio ("CMR") plays a role in developing new journalistic and other on-air talents.

btn

CMR has developed a two-part initiative to encourage interest broadcasting and journalism at post secondary level education and beyond. An Award and Bursary, each worth $2,500 is awarded to deserving students pursuing a Broadcasting or Journalism program at the Humber College and a Scholarship worth $2,000 is awarded to deserving high school graduate entering a Broadcasting or Journalism program at the Humber College. Apart from the $7,000 disbursement, CMR provides summer internship each year for a broadcasting or Journalism student who can speak one of the broadcast languages of the station.

CMR takes pride in giving back to the community through this talent development initiative.
