Canadian Multicultural Radio (“CMR”) and Tamil Vision Inc. (‘TVI”) would like to cordially invite you to participate in the “2006 South Asian Festival”, on September 2nd- 3rd, 2006.

Located at one of Canada’s premier trade and convention venues, Toronto’s International Centre, this event is a celebration of cultural diversity. With a total audience exceeding one million people, CMR, TVI and their partners are showcasing the culture, food, music and business of Canada’s South Asian communities.

The May 20 - 21st 2006 event was a tremendous success, with over 100,000 attendees and 350 Exhibitors. The event featured 5 stages with 1200 multicultural performers in over 300,000 square feet of space at the International Centre. This event was proclaimed the largest of its kind in the South Asian Community. It featured Punjabi musical concert by renowned musicians Jaspinder Narulla, Micky Narulla and the legend Kuldip Manak from India. Shehzad Roy, the heart-throb of Pakistan, entertained the Urdu audience with his scintillating rendition of Pop music. Agni, the unique song & dance troupe of Toronto, dazzled the audience with a wide range of music from Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The event also featured cultural dances such as Filipino – Spanish Fusion dance, Bhangra, Kathak, Bharatha Natyam, Bollywood dance and Kannada Folk. Audience of all ages were entertained by Zero Gravity Circus acts, breath taking magic and illusion shows, outdoor carnival rides, indoor kids play area and youth basketball and Hip-Hop entertainment arena.

The September event has been expanded to include over 400,000 square feet of space.

Canadian Multicultural Radio presents Canadian Music Talent search a competing opportunity for amateur musicians to secure a chance at professional Album making.

Three winners of the Canadian Music Talent search will produce a 10 track CD Album in conjunction with CMR.

bursaries

Canadian Multicultural Radio is going to be awarding 3 bursaries totaling seven thousand dollars to visible minority youth pursuing an academic course in broadcasting or journalism. We will provide three bursaries of $ 2,333 each to deserving students to pursue a journalism or broadcasting program at Humber College. FASHION SHOW

From the civilizations of 5,000 years ago to the present day, South Asia has hosted countless numbers of cultures, creating a land with diverse beliefs where modern concerns mesh with traditional values. CMR and TVI’s Spring/ Summer Festival 2006 is simply about featuring the best of this diverse multicultural community. In keeping with this concept of togetherness, the fashion show will be called “Unity 2006”. more..
